Bones

Bones have more rigid matrix than cartilage, so it has classified matrix.

Periostium covered the outer surface of the bone.

Bone tissues contains ostiocytes lies in laccune.

One laccune contain one ostiocytes. Periostium is a white fibrous tissue.

Composition of bones

Like other connective tissues bones also made up of matrix , cells and blood.

1.Matrix,

There are two types of substances in bone matrix,

                                     1.Organic substances ( about 30%)

The main organic substance of bone matrix is collagen protein.

                                  2.Inorganic substances (about 70%)

The main inorganic substance of bone matrix is hydroxiapatite  it gives the rigidity to bone tissue. Because of hi abundance of calcium the bone tissue serve as the main calcium storage in human body.

2. Fibers,

Predominant form fibers  in the matrix is collagen. A little amount of elastic fibers is also present.

.3. Cells,

Ostioblast ;- They secreat organic matrix and fibers

Ostiosytes ;- These are the mature ostioblast present in lacunae, they form cytoplasmic extensions which extends through canaliculi .

Ostioclast;-  These are large cells having numerous lysosomes which contain digestive enzymes . Bone digestion is done by ostioclast by releasing digestive enzymes.
