Cell junctions

Structures and cytoplasm of adjoining cells are joined .

There are three types of cell junctions in animal cell,

                      1. Tight junction

                      2. Gap junction / Communication junction

                       3. Anchor junction / Desmosomes

                      1. Tight junction

Connect the plasma membrane of adjacent cells tightly.

ex; epithelial cells of gut

In tight junction inter cellular spaces are reduce.

Function; Prevent the leakage through inter cellular space

                        2. Gap junction / Communication junction

Allow signals and materials exchange between adjacent cells through direct connections.

There is a structure called canneoxen join the adjacent cells.

Those are tubular structures and composed of proteins.

Inter cellular spaces are hi.

Amino acids and glucose molecule can exchange through connections.

                        3. Anchor junction / Desmosomes

Cytoskelitan of two cells connect together.

cadherin protein is involved in formation of this junction.
